We started FAAV so that we could help millennials and the surrounding generations stop simply dreaming about their goals and start taking action for their futures. The traditional financial services landscape is outdated. Big financial firms often require clients to have hundreds of thousands of dollars (or more) ready to invest in order to help them. However, many young people do not have that kind of money readily accessible, but they still want professional advice when it comes to navigating big life transitions, such as changing careers, planning for retirement, starting families, or paying down loans while investing for their futures. We wanted to change the narrative that only people with money have access to comprehensive financial advice, so we offer a variety of ways that clients can work with us and get the guidance they seek.

What we can help you with

  • Do you daydream about one day having total freedom of time and dictating exactly how you spend each day? Perhaps that consists of traveling the world on your schedule. Or spending more time with your kids and grandkids. Or volunteering with an organization near and dear to you. Or going on lunch dates with all of your other retired friends whenever wherever. Or simply having nothing on the to-do list when you wake up in the morning.

No matter what your future vision looks like, we want to help you address the common questions, “Can I retire when I want and not stress about money?”, or “How will I afford my lifestyle when I’m no longer working?”, or “I saw my grandparents go into a nursing home and struggle with how to pay for it…how do I end up in a better position?”, or “How do I make sure I don’t outlive my money?”, so that you have clarity on what your version of financial freedom actually looks like.

Planning for retirement and long term care is one of our core services. We plan today for tomorrow so that you can continue to enjoy life and feel prepared when you transition out of the work hustle.

It’s never too early to plan for retirement.

  • Some of the biggest goals we have for ourselves, our kids, or our grandkids are investing in education.

It is well known that higher education can be incredibly expensive. Whether you’re going back to earn a degree or want to make sure a family member has the opportunity to go to college, we can help you plan for this big investment.

  • Relationships can be both the most joyful and challenging aspects of our lives. Mix money and emotions, and it’s a potential recipe for disaster. When you’re getting married, we talk to you about what joining your financial lives looks like and help you prepare for those potential tough conversations as you navigate different beliefs about money. We may work closely with your matrimonial attorney to ensure your plan is coordinated.

On the other side of the spectrum, if you’re going through a divorce, we can help you understand the pros and cons of keeping or selling different assets and assist you in determining how to divide your assets and liabilities in an equitable manner. In this instance, we would work closely with your divorce attorney to discuss a proposal for division of assets. Or if you have recently gone through the taxing process of divorcing, we can help you rebuild your financial future as you begin to experience your new season of life.

Note: FAAV does not provide tax, legal or accounting advice. You should consult your own tax, legal, and accounting advisors before engaging in any transaction.

  • Arguably the single most important part of laying your financial foundation, being in tune with how much you spend in relation to how much income you have is key to determining if you can meet your future goals or need to make adjustments.

Without knowing how much you spend, which is a tangible reflection of your lifestyle, you generally cannot accurately analyze when and what retirement will look like, what quitting your job and starting your own business entails, if you can send your kid to college debt-free, or how to accomplish a multitude of other big financial goals.

We can help you track your expenses and build out a budget (if necessary) so that you can enjoy today and tomorrow. We can also help you create a schedule to repay your debts, like those pesky student loans, while still investing in your future.

Note: FAAV does not provide tax, legal or accounting advice. You should consult your own tax, legal, and accounting advisors before engaging in any transaction.

  • Even if you work with an accountant, there are strategies we can implement with you and your tax advisor to reduce your tax bill and ultimately allow you to have more control over your money.

It may look like shifting more of your savings to a pre-tax retirement account, like a 401(k) if you’re eligible, or converting a portion of your IRA into a Roth IRA. Or it may look like adjusting your current portfolio holdings to be more tax favorable.

Note: FAAV does not provide tax, legal or accounting advice. You should consult your own tax, legal, and accounting advisors before engaging in any transaction.

  • As an entrepreneur myself, first founding our wedding venue and then launching FAAV, we understand that there are a multitude of moving parts when it comes to starting a business, especially if you’re taking the leap from a full-time employee to a full-time business owner.

Working with your accountant and business attorney, we help you check off some of the basics of building a business, such as making sure you pay yourself and have benefits when you no longer receive them through an employer.

If you no longer wish to be involved in the day-to-day of your business, either due to retirement or another (un)planned reason, we assist you with succession planning strategies.

Note: FAAV does not provide tax, legal or accounting advice. You should consult your own tax, legal, and accounting advisors before engaging in any transaction.

  • Planning for an emergency or an unforeseen event is incredibly important, not only for you but also for anyone who may be dependent on you. From helping you to build and maintain an emergency fund to securing your loved ones’ future in case of a devastating event, we want to help you feel confident that you and your family are prepared financially no matter what unexpected curveball life throws.

We can review any current life insurance policies you may own to see if you have adequate coverage in the event of an untimely event. If you would benefit from additional coverage, we can help you secure more insurance.

  • You’ve worked hard. We want to help you design a legacy that you’re proud to leave behind. How do you want loved ones to remember you? Are there certain people or organizations in your life that you want to continue helping well into the future?

We work closely with you and your trust and estates attorney to ensure your hard-earned wealth is protected and left to the people or organizations you want.

Note: FAAV does not provide tax, legal or accounting advice. You should consult your own tax, legal, and accounting advisors before engaging in any transaction.

  • Do you feel like you have too much cash sitting in your savings account and want to invest some of it, but you don’t know where to start? Or did you inherit some stocks from your grandparents and have no idea if they make sense for you?

We can help you invest your money through our investment management services. Together, we determine how much risk you’re comfortable with, what your time horizon is for each of your goals, what your tax status is, your desire for ESG investing, and an allocation suitable for your needs and risk tolerance.

Please note that we only offer investment management services with our ongoing financial planning options. There are risks involved with investing. Please see our ADV Part 2A linked at the bottom of this page for more details.

  • Whether it’s buying a vacation home or investment property, taking big trips every year, or buying that luxury car you’ve been dreaming about for years, we help you prioritize your goals and achieve the lifestyle you want to live.

When deciding on a big financial goal, we’ll walk you through the pros and cons of your decision and help you figure out the best strategy for you to reach that goal.
